School Hosts a Special Concert by the Sichuan Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra
Music conveys the spirit, and art communicates with the world. At 7:00 PM on June 15, 2023, the special concert "Refined Arts on Campus—Sichuan Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra at Leshan Vocational and Technical College," co-hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, was successfully held in the college auditorium. Leaders from the Municipal Committee, the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, the Municipal Government, and the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, as well as leaders from various municipal departments and friendly units, were invited to join over a thousand teachers and students of the college in enjoying this musical feast. Cheng Dingbin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, delivered a welcome speech.
The concert opened with the majestic and heroic "Ode to the Red Flag." Classic pieces from China and abroad, including "Yao Ethnic Dance Music," the violin concerto "Butterfly Lovers," "Hungarian Dances No. 1 and No. 5," "Carmen Suite," "Hunters' Polka," and "Thunder and Lightning Polka," were performed in sequence. The passionate melodies brought aesthetic pleasure to the audience. The melodious sounds echoed in the auditorium, and the enthusiastic applause was sustained. After each piece, Yang Ruifeng, the conductor, provided an in-depth yet accessible introduction to the style and characteristics of each composition, as well as knowledge of orchestral instruments, enriching the audience's appreciation of Western classical music while they enjoyed the beautiful music.
The brilliant performance was met with thunderous applause from the audience. At the invitation of the continuous and enthusiastic applause, the conductor performed several encores, bringing the concert to its climax. The concert concluded perfectly with the heartfelt melody of "Chengdu" and the prolonged applause from the audience.
