In order to further cultivate international friends who understand and are friendly towards China, and to guide international students to gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Chinese culture, the International College (Office of International Cooperation) and the Student Affairs Office jointly organized the first session of this year’s "Experience Leshan’s Traditional Culture and the Charm of Its Intangible Cultural Heritage" activity for international students to experience excellent traditional Chinese culture. Over the course of two days, twelve student representatives from Laos, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam visited Jia Dingfang, the Leshan City Museum, and the Emei Tie-Dye Workshop to immerse themselves in Leshan culture and the intangible cultural heritage craft of Emei tie-dye.
On the morning of April 21st, the twelve student representatives from five countries, led by teachers from the Student Affairs Office and the International College, visited Jia Dingfang and the Leshan City Museum to experience the traditional culture of Leshan.
On the afternoon of April 22nd, the twelve student representatives entered the Emei Tie-Dye Workshop. Under the guidance of professional teachers, they learned about tie-dye techniques, viewed tie-dye artworks, and experienced the intangible cultural heritage craft. They felt the spirit of craftsmanship and created their own tie-dye handicrafts, getting up close and personal with the unique charm of Leshan’s intangible cultural heritage.
At the event venue, the international students immersed themselves in learning the intangible cultural heritage craft of tie-dye.
The organization of such activities enhances cultural exchange with international students, allowing them to experience Leshan’s excellent traditional culture up close while fully showcasing the connotations and charm of Leshan’s intangible cultural heritage. In the future, the International College (Office of International Cooperation) will continue to tell Leshan’s stories well to international students, encouraging more of them to participate in traditional culture classes and experience Leshan’s excellent traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage crafts.
