Time:2023-04-17

At 2:00 PM on April 14th, the opening ceremony of the first International Culture Festival of Leshan Vocational and Technical College was held in the Academic Report Hall of the Library. In attendance were Cheng Dingbin, Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Zhong, President of the College, Chen Zhihai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Feng Jiafu and Zhou Qin, Vice Presidents of the College, all staff members of the International Student Management Office, all teachers and students of the International College, as well as over 300 Chinese student representatives. The festival was organized by the International College, with the support of the Student Club Management Center, the Bencao Club, and the Hanfu Club. Three student representatives from China, Nepal, and Laos co-hosted the event in Chinese, English, and Lao languages.

President Liu Zhong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the college, President Liu extended Songkran festival greetings to students from Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia, and expressed gratitude to all teachers and students participating in the event. He emphasized that the significance of holding a diverse International Culture Festival lies not only in showcasing one's own national culture and enhancing understanding of other cultures but also in enriching the campus cultural life of students and fostering friendship among international students. Finally, President Liu put forward three requirements for international students: to abide by Chinese laws and the college's regulations, to be positive and energetic young students, and to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind; to study diligently, enhance their international vision, professional skills, and Chinese communication abilities, and to serve their home countries better after returning; and to gain a deeper understanding of the real China during their studies and share their experiences with more people to play an active role in promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The opening ceremony began with a unique "Water-Sprinkling Ceremony." International student representatives from Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia presented flowers to the college leaders, and both parties sprinkled water on each other to express gratitude and blessings.

Subsequently, international students delivered a vibrant performance of songs and dances with a strong exotic flavor. The melodious tunes, graceful dance moves, and playful expressions earned loud applause from the audience, creating a lively atmosphere. The talent show concluded with a medley of songs by the Hanfu Club and a fashion show featuring Chinese and international students. After the performances, teachers and students were invited to the food area outside the Academic Report Hall to taste traditional dishes cooked by students from six countries. The carefully prepared dishes by the students were highly popular and received unanimous praise from the faculty and students.

This event provided a multidimensional communication platform for students from different countries, languages, and cultures, offering a stage to express enthusiasm, stimulate vitality, and showcase individual talents. It was of great significance in promoting the integration of Chinese and foreign cultures, expanding students' international horizons, and building a diverse campus culture.
