The Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is one of China's traditional festivals and also the first Chinese festival to be included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. It is characterized by unique customs such as making zongzi (rice dumplings), fragrant sachets, and dragon boat racing. To promote traditional festivals and allow international students at our university to gain a deep understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival and experience its charm, an event titled "Skillful Hands Twist Zongzi, Welcoming the Dragon Boat Festival" was held in classroom 2C102 on the afternoon of June 5, 2024.
This event enriched students' hands-on abilities by having them create zongzi using twist sticks. Through exchanges between Chinese and international students, the international students gained a deeper understanding of the origins of the Dragon Boat Festival and the significance of eating zongzi. This allowed them to better understand traditional Chinese culture, learn through games, and enrich themselves while having fun.
