As the Yi New Year approached, the school seized this opportunity to initiate the "All Ethnic Groups of China Are One Family, Join Hands to Draw a Common Circle of Unity" national unity themed publicity week. This initiative further deepened education on loving the Party, the motherland, and the school, and strengthened the awareness of great ethnic unity among teachers and students of all ethnic groups.
On November 19, 2023, at 7:00 PM, students of various ethnicities gathered at Mingde Square to participate in the "All Ethnic Groups of China Are One Family, Join Hands to Draw a Common Circle of Unity" national unity themed bonfire evening party. The event was hosted by Hu Wenjie, Director of the Student Affairs Department of Leshan Vocational and Technical College. Leaders in attendance included Ou Chongqin, a second-level researcher from the Leshan Municipal Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission; Xu Binling, Mayor of Suji Town, Shizhong District, Leshan City; Zhang Xuehe and Feng Jiafu, members of the school's Party Committee and Vice Presidents. Ou Chongqin and Feng Jiafu delivered speeches, extending New Year greetings to Yi students and emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity. Subsequently, Zhang Xuehe declared the commencement of the themed bonfire evening party. Students from various ethnic groups danced the beautiful Dati dance around the lively bonfire, hand in hand, to the cheerful music, painting a beautiful picture of unity and harmony among all ethnic groups.
To ensure that students could celebrate the Yi New Year well, the school specially prepared Yi-flavored and halal dishes for the 1,077 ethnic minority students and international students on campus. Through this culinary culture, students from 23 ethnic minorities and over 100 international students from 13 countries enhanced their cultural exchanges.
During the publicity week, secondary colleges also organized themed class meetings (seminars) on national unity for ethnic minority and Han students, with representatives from each class, focusing on the theme "All Ethnic Groups of China Are One Family, Join Hands to Draw a Common Circle of Unity." These meetings, which incorporated the Party and state's ethnic policies, financial aid for students in difficulty, and current political affairs, further deepened education on loving the Party, the motherland, and the school, and strengthened the awareness of ethnic unity among teachers and students of all ethnic groups.
The "All Ethnic Groups of China Are One Family, Join Hands to Draw a Common Circle of Unity" national unity themed publicity week is aimed at fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and relevant meetings on ethnic work at the central, provincial, and municipal levels. It seeks to further consolidate the sense of community among the Chinese nation, promote the construction of a demonstration project for ethnic unity and progress in the city, advance the cause of ethnic unity and progress, and create a stable and harmonious campus atmosphere.
