From May 8 to 10, the 2019 "International Students' Perception of Sichuan: Visiting Nanchong" cultural exchange event, hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and organized by Southwest University for Nationalities, took place in Nanchong. Zhang Jingjing from the International Cooperation Office and Liu Xihui from the Student Affairs Office led a group of 12 international students from our college to participate in the event.
On the morning of May 9, the final of the Chinese speech competition themed "Impressions of Sichuan" for international students was held. Zhang Wan, an international student from Laos at Leshan Vocational and Technical College, demonstrated a high level of comprehensive Chinese language skills in her speech and won the second prize in the final.
That afternoon, a symposium on international student management work, themed "Implementing the Spirit of the Provincial Party Committee and Building a Base for International Students with the Support of Universities," was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of Southwest University for Nationalities. Representatives from over 30 universities discussed the work of international students at their respective institutions and the opportunities and challenges faced by international student work in the new era.
On the morning of May 10, the college's international student team won the second prize in three events - "Star of the Show," "Drought Dragon Boat," and "Long Rope Jumping" - at the fun sports competition of the "International Students' Perception of Sichuan: Visiting Nanchong" event. The college was awarded the "Outstanding Organization Award."
This year marks the second year of the International Students' Perception of Sichuan event, which is hosted annually by different universities in Sichuan. The event combines competitions, performances, and in - depth experiences to create an interactive platform for international students to feel the culture of Sichuan and to communicate and learn with international students from other universities.
Themed "The Belt and Road in Action: A New Journey for International Education," the event included a Chinese speech competition on the theme of "Impressions of Sichuan," a symposium on international student management work, a cultural performance showcasing the talents of international students, and a sports and cultural exchange event for international students. Leaders from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Nanchong Municipal People's Government, as well as more than 400 international students and faculty representatives from 30 universities across the province, participated in the event.
