At 3 p.m. on June 22, the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2017 international students was held in the 3D Training Laboratory at the New Village Campus. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Huang Xiaoli, Director of the International Cooperation Office. In attendance were Secretary Jian Lu of the college’s Party Committee, President Liu Zhong, Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Commission Secretary Chen Zhihai, and Vice President Chen Yuanjin.
At the ceremony, Secretary Jian Lu, on behalf of all the faculty and students of the college, extended congratulations to the 13 graduating international students from Laos and expressed gratitude to the teachers and administrators who had nurtured them. He said to the graduating students with satisfaction, "Three years ago, you left your homeland, carrying dreams and expectations, and came to our college. Now you are about to embark on a new journey. You are an integral part of our college. No matter where you go in the world, no matter how far you travel, you will always be the honored guests of our college. Your 'alma mater' hopes that you will be both virtuous and talented, with a bright future ahead. In the days to come, we hope you will manage to balance 'work' and 'study,' 'happiness' and 'growth,' as well as 'life' and 'career.'"
Chen Zhihai read out the list of graduating international students, and Liu Zhong presented each graduate with their diploma. To express their gratitude for the teachers' careful guidance and enthusiastic help during their time at the college, the graduating students, who were about to return to their home countries, presented flowers to each teacher one by one and gave gifts to their alma mater.
A heartwarming and touching short film was shown at the ceremony, which brought back memories of the international students' three years of learning and living at the college. "It is my fortune to meet you in the most beautiful season of my life. I have spent the most wonderful three years of my life here," said Laotian student Wei Wenna in fluent Chinese, representing the 13 graduating students in expressing their gratitude to the teachers and classmates who had helped and cared for them.
After the ceremony, the strong sense of parting moved every teacher and international student present. Many students hugged their teachers, with whom they had spent day in and day out, and took photos to commemorate the moment, bidding each other farewell with tears in their eyes.
Also attending the ceremony were members of the International Student Management Office, the International Cooperation Office, leaders and administrators from the departments where the international students were enrolled, heads of the basic public courses division in charge of international student affairs, class counselors of the international students, teachers of the international students, and all the international students.
