From January 21 to February 10, 2024, five teachers from our school's national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team traveled to Germany to participate in a 21-day overseas training program for the national "Master Craftsmen" innovation team in the field of pediatric nursing.
During the 21-day training, the participating teachers fully understood the German dual-vocational education system and deeply studied the training methods for German educators and nursing staff through training lectures, visits, classroom observations, teaching method activities, and group practical exercises. They also exchanged views on the differences and characteristics of talent cultivation in related majors between China and Germany.
The teachers highly valued this training opportunity, approached it with questions and tasks in mind, and meticulously completed all training assignments. In the specialized learning sessions, they gained insights into the dual-vocational talent cultivation mechanism for the nursing major in Germany, including the training structure, curriculum organization, training requirements, admission conditions, talent cultivation funding contracts, and requirements for training instructors. They visited the largest hospital in Eastern Germany—Kemnitz Hospital, one of the options for childbirth in Germany—Birth House, a hotel-style managed elderly nursing home, and the Dresden Health Museum. The teachers also observed classroom teaching, deeply understood their teaching methods, and practiced teaching methods such as problem-oriented approach and role-playing.
After returning to school, the participating teachers will closely integrate their professional backgrounds and form written learning summaries around the construction and development of the nursing major and the building of a faculty team. This will provide guidance and reference for the construction of high-level professional groups in nursing.
Organizing teachers to travel to Germany for training, learning, and drawing on advanced German vocational education concepts, further broadening the international vision of professional teachers, and improving their professional quality and comprehensive abilities, is one of the important measures for the school to build a high-level faculty team. It is also an inevitable requirement for the school to implement its internationalization strategy.
