On March 6, Thai Ambassador to China Bilya Chinnapong, accompanied by Pan Tipapa, Thai Consul General in Chengdu, Liu Li, Director of the Asia - Africa Department of the Sichuan Provincial Office of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs, Tan Hui, President of the Leshan Association for International Friendship, and others, visited our college. The college's Party Secretary Jian Lu and President Liu Zhong received the ambassador and his delegation at the Academic Exchange Center.
Jian Lu extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Bilya Chinnapong and his delegation on behalf of the college. Liu Zhong introduced the college's general situation and its cooperation with Thailand. Subsequently, the delegation toured the campus, visited students' training classrooms, observed a Sichuan cuisine cooking class by students from the Thai Royal Jiradit School, and met with other Thai exchange students studying nursing at the college. They had an in - depth conversation with the students to learn about their studies and life at the college.
Ambassador Bilya Chinnapong expressed gratitude for the college's meticulous care and support for Thai students over the years. He said Thailand values cooperation with China. Under the "Belt and Road" framework, the cooperation between Thailand and China will be closer, especially in education. He hopes Thai universities will continue to cooperate with Leshan Vocational and Technical College and further deepen cooperation in areas such as teacher - student exchanges, teaching and research, and academia.
Leshan Vocational and Technical College's cooperation with Thailand began in 2009. Since then, it has established substantive cooperation projects with several Thai universities, including the Royal Jiradit School, the Thai Red Cross College of Nursing, the Queen Mother Phutthabat College of Nursing, the Prachinburi Vocational College, and other nine Queen Mother Nursing Colleges under the Northern and Central Alliances. In October 2017, the college, in collaboration with Thai universities, successfully hosted the first "China - Thailand International Nursing Education Forum" in Leshan.
