On the afternoon of November 10th, 2021, the Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center organized a work promotion meeting for China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College. Attending the meeting were Zhao Lixia, Director of the Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center, Zhu Lihua, Deputy Director, YAWA, the principal from the Zambian side, Wang Nan, the specialist stationed in Zambia by the Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center, and business leaders from 10 domestic colleges including Beijing Industrial Vocational and Technical College. From Leshan Vocational and Technical College, Chen Xiaolu, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Deng Panpan, Deputy Director, Cui Mingxian, Director of the New Energy Engineering Department, and full-time teacher Hu Fu attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Lixia, a director of China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College.
Zhao Lixia introduced the progress of the work at China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College, which is a highlight of China’s educational opening-up and is highly valued by the Ministry of Education. Principal YAWA from the Zambian side introduced the basic situation of the college, and Wang Nan, a director of the college, introduced the operation of the college and the enrollment arrangements for 2022. Leaders from the participating colleges introduced the development of relevant majors and the progress of their work.
Leshan Vocational and Technical College is responsible for the construction of the New Energy Engineering Sub-college of China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College. The teaching standards for the application technology of energy storage materials, which were formulated under the leadership of the college, have become the teaching standards for vocational education in Zambia. The major plans to start enrollment in Zambia next year. Since it is the first enrollment, the major faces many difficulties such as a shortage of faculty and courses. Dr. Cui Mingxian stated that the New Energy Engineering Department of Leshan Vocational and Technical College will strongly support the construction of the major. The college will station one teacher in Zambia to provide support for recruitment publicity, faculty training, and the construction of bilingual teaching course resources for the Zambian side, and will fully commit to building the energy storage materials technology major.
