On April 23, 2023, the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance announced the first batch of construction units for the "Ethiopian National Vocational Standards Development Project." After the school's application, preliminary review by the alliance, expert evaluation, and public announcement, Leshan Vocational and Technical College was designated as the leading unit for the Level 3 Nursing Technician/Engineer standard and the Level 3 Animal Breeding Technician/Engineer standard, as well as a participating unit for the Level 4 Mechanical Processing Technician/Engineer standard.
The "Ethiopian National Vocational Standards Development Project" is initiated by the Ethiopian National Vocational Education Commission to introduce Chinese vocational education resources. It focuses on key vocational skill positions in Ethiopia's national industries, selects an equivalent number of Chinese vocational standards, and revises them for localization. These standards are then registered and certified through Ethiopia's national procedures and incorporated into the Ethiopian National Vocational Education System, along with supporting professional teaching standards, to guide the talent cultivation work of vocational colleges in Ethiopia.
Moving forward, the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance will collaborate with expert working groups from both China and Ethiopia and the Ethiopian National Vocational Education Commission to formulate the project implementation plan, establish a communication mechanism among all relevant units involved in the project, guide the construction units in developing detailed implementation plans, and hold a project launch conference at an appropriate time. The college will work together with the leading and participating units for the Nursing Technician/Engineer, Animal Breeding Technician/Engineer, and Mechanical Processing Technician/Engineer standards to establish a dedicated working group and mechanism, strengthen process management, and complete the project construction with high quality and on schedule.
