On the morning of August 5, another beautiful day began. Teacher Li Fang from the Art and Design Department of Leshan Vocational and Technical College and student volunteers arrived early in the classroom to prepare for the day's paper - cutting class. At 9:00 a.m., the paper - cutting classroom, filled with red paper and scissors, welcomed the participants on schedule.
Upon learning that the day's activity would be experiencing traditional Chinese paper - cutting culture, the participants expressed their surprise.
To allow the participants to experience the cultural characteristics of Sichuan, Teacher Li Fang specially chose pandas as the theme for the day's paper - cutting. She drew the outline of a national treasure, the giant panda, on the blackboard with chalk. The participants exclaimed how cute it was and eagerly picked up their scissors to follow the teacher's lead.
"It's called Puffy," "Mine is called Meow - meow," "Let's call it Little Bear"... The skillful participants created various creative panda paper - cuttings. Some were endearingly clumsy, some were cute and lively, some had a heart on the panda's belly, some had a star on the panda's head, and one child even cut the character "Fu" from his father's name onto the panda's belly. Even when it was time to leave class, some participants were reluctant to put down their scissors, still trying to make more paper - cutting works to take home for their parents.
Though the time was short, the participants truly experienced the joy of paper - cutting and gave it a thumbs - up.
