On the afternoon of September 27, 2017, Miss Pitchaporn Liwjaroen (Chinese name: Liu Lin), the newly appointed Education and Visa Consul of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Chengdu, along with two colleagues, visited our college to provide consular services for Thai international students. A brief symposium was held in the 424 conference room on the fourth floor of the new campus administration building. In attendance were Secretary Jian Lu of the college’s Party Committee, representatives from the International Cooperation Office, and the nine newly arrived Thai international students.
During the meeting, Secretary Jian Lu extended a warm welcome to Consul Liu Lin and her colleagues. He provided an overview of the college’s general situation and highlighted the advanced facilities and equipment of the new campus. He also reviewed the productive exchanges and cooperation between our college and Thai friendly schools since 2009, facilitated by the Royal Thai Consulate General in Chengdu. Secretary Jian Lu noted that under China’s "Belt and Road" Initiative, Thailand, as an important country along the "Belt and Road," has seen increasingly strengthened cooperation with our college. He expressed the hope that the Thai Consulate would continue to support our college’s cooperation with Thailand, providing relevant channels and information to further expand the scope of cooperation, including professional fields and forms of collaboration. For example, he suggested establishing cooperation between our college and Thai institutions and enterprises in the field of photovoltaic energy, to achieve "joint consultation, joint construction, and shared benefits" in the educational field. He emphasized that educational cooperation could drive economic and cultural collaboration and development between China and Thailand.
Consul Liu Lin of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Chengdu highly appreciated the suggestions for cooperation and exchange put forward by our college. She stated that she would do her utmost to build a platform for our college to promote diversified cooperation in the future. She also encouraged Thai international students studying at our college to take advantage of their study abroad opportunities to learn about and experience Chinese culture. In addition, she welcomed Chinese students from our college to visit Thailand to experience Thai culture and traditions.
After the symposium, Consul Liu Lin and her colleagues provided consular services for the nine new Thai students at our college.
