On the morning of May 16th, 2014, a delegation from the International Bowls Federation (hereinafter referred to as the International Federation), including China’s representative Bernard, China’s executive committee member Yao Zhihan, French bowls representatives Dilo and Corinne, and Sichuan Provincial Bowls Association Vice Chairman Jiang Yeying, visited our college. They came to understand the development of bowls at our college and to provide guidance on the construction and development of the sport.
In the conference room on the third floor of the college, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Secretary Chen Zhihai, and Trade Union Chairman Chen Guoyin, held a discussion with Bernard and his delegation on jointly promoting the development of bowls. At the meeting, Chairman Chen briefly introduced the development of bowls at our college and expressed his welcome and gratitude for Bernard and his team’s visit. After consultation, both sides agreed to exchange representative teams for friendly matches to improve their skills. Heads of the Department of Basic and Public Courses, including Director Zhang En and Deputy Director Li Shu, as well as relevant teachers from the Physical Education Department, attended the discussion.
Subsequently, Bernard and his delegation went to the sports field, where they played friendly matches against student and faculty teams from our college and took group photos with the participants.
Our college has been actively involved in bowls for over a decade, achieving remarkable results. In December 2012, at the 16th Asian Small Metal Bowls Championship held in Hanoi, Vietnam, our college’s national team won the women’s doubles championship for the first time. We have also won multiple national bowls championships, national university bowls championships, fourth place at the 3rd National Sports Congress bowls competition, and the Sichuan Provincial Bowls championship.
