On January 31, the third day of the Chinese New Year, the Leshan Temple Fair was bustling with people. International students from Leshan Vocational and Technical College, dressed in traditional costumes from their home countries, attracted attention. They were invited by the Leshan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press, and Tourism and led by teachers from the International Cooperation Office to experience the charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH).
Students from Laos, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh wandered among the ICH booths from 13 districts and counties of Leshan. They were fascinated by the colorful Jiajiang New Year paintings and the artisans' skills. During the Sichuan Opera "Legend of White Snake," they were moved by the love story. The face - changing and fire - spitting tricks amazed them, with exclamations of "It's so amazing!"
Beyond watching, the students actively participated in ICH experiences. They played shuttlecock, danced with bamboo poles, and their laughter filled the air. Thai student Li Meilan said, "This is my first time experiencing traditional Chinese games. It's so fun! I feel like I've already blended into the Chinese Spring Festival atmosphere."
A relevant official from Leshan Vocational and Technical College said organizing ICH experiences for international students is crucial for "knowing, loving, and cherishing China" education. Through hands - on experiences, students can better understand and appreciate Chinese culture, laying a solid foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
This visit to the Leshan Temple Fair not only opened a window to Chinese culture for the students but also built a bridge for them to exchange and learn with Chinese students. In the future, these international students are expected to become friendly messengers spreading Chinese culture and promoting people - to - people bonds, contributing to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
