On January 25, 2025, Leshan Vocational and Technical College held the "Sisi Ruyi, Auspiciousness Surrounds" Chinese New Year event for international students. Over 80 students from Laos, Thailand, Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Bangladesh immersed themselves in traditional culture and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.

During the event, Zhou Qili, a teacher at Leshan Vocational and Technical College and a member of the Provincial Calligraphers Association, wrote "Fu" characters on fans and gave out couplets to the students. The students cherished the fans and tried calligraphy, feeling the charm of Chinese calligraphy and expressing their love for Chinese culture and New Year wishes.

In the folk custom garden experience, students enjoyed traditional sports like cuju, archery, and shuttlecock throwing, and participated in interactive games like "Unfalling Forest" and "Snack Battle." They learned about traditional culture and enjoyed the festive fun.

The highlight was the dumpling - making session. Pastry chefs introduced the meaning and method of making dumplings, guided the students through the process, and everyone busily made dumplings, enjoying the fun of traditional food preparation. The venue was filled with laughter and a festive atmosphere.

Staff then cooked the dumplings and served them with a prepared Chinese feast. The students enjoyed their homemade dumplings and traditional Chinese food, feeling the atmosphere of the New Year's reunion dinner. During the meal, students shared their experiences and teachers offered New Year greetings, creating a joyful and harmonious atmosphere.

"I'm attending the Spring Festival for the first time. It's wonderful and full of charm. I wish everyone a prosperous Year of the Snake!" said Wang Weixin from Laos. The event let her experience the liveliness and celebration of the Chinese New Year, and she plans to share videos of the event to introduce Chinese culture to more people.
Zhang Jingjing, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, said that the Chinese New Year cultural experience for international students has been held for 13 consecutive years. It aims to let international students on campus deeply experience Chinese traditional Spring Festival culture, enhance their understanding and recognition of Chinese culture, and make them fall in love with China and Chinese culture from the bottom of their hearts. It also hopes that they will become messengers of Chinese culture and a solid bridge for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries after graduation.
